What is FIRST?

  • FIRST is a global organization that helps promote Science, Technology, and Engineering careers to young people.
  • What does FIRST mean?

  • FIRST stands for "For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology".
  • When was FIRST founded?

  • FIRST was founded in 1989 by inventor Dean Kamen.
  • What is FRC?

  • FRC is the robotics competition that Crevolution competes in. It stands for FIRST Robotics Competition and is one of the four main branches of FIRST. FRC runs from 9-12th grade, the FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) also runs at the high school level, the FIRST Lego League (FLL) is from grades 4-8, and Junior FIRST Lego League runs from Kindergarten-3rd grade.
  • How large is the program?

  • FIRST reached over 251,000 students in 2010-2011, as well as over 60,000 mentors and adults.
